Scholastic Book Clubs

Classroom teachers in public and private elementary schools and early childhood directors nationwide actively use Scholastic Book Clubs to give all their students direct access to the best children’s books at affordable prices. A treasured classroom program, Scholastic Book Clubs helps teachers by providing a curated selection of top-quality, age-appropriate children’s books at great values. Students and their families are empowered to choose the books they will love to read from monthly catalogs, and teachers are rewarded with free books and resources—all delivered directly to their classrooms.

Scholastic Book Clubs was launched with TAB, the Teenage Book Club, in 1948 when Scholastic’s founder, M.R. Robinson, saw an opportunity to build on the strong relationship with teachers the company had fostered through its classroom magazines. Since then, over the past 75 years, Scholastic Book Clubs has expanded to include print and digital monthly flyers offering the very best books published by Scholastic, and all publishers, at excellent values. The monthly flyers are crafted by age, grade, reading, and interest level and are curatedto ensure that the titles offered by Scholastic Book Clubs reflect the experiences of all students and their families. Scholastic Book Clubs is an invaluable partner to teachers who take deep professional pride in their participation in the program, earning “Apple Status,” which enables them to build their classroom libraries and provide free books to students who otherwise might not have any, and helps develop a culture of independent reading and literacy in their classroom.

Scholastic Book Fairs

Among Scholastic’s best-known, best-loved businesses is Book Fairs, in-school events that bring the joy and excitement of reading to school-age children in their own communities. With the look and feel of a bustling bookstore, these weeklong events feature mobile cases full of popular, affordable books from the world’s top publishers. From newly-released books and bestsellers to award-winning titles and perennial favorites, every book is hand-selected by Scholastic experts based on characters and subjects that kids love and want to read about. Scholastic provides the books, planning tools, and display cases for all of the Book Fairs, which are run by volunteer parents, teachers, and school librarians.

For decades, Scholastic has been bringing Book Fairs to schools in all 50 states. Today, Book Fairs are global, with operations extending to Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, the Philippines, and the U.K. The undisputed leader in the field, Scholastic Book Fairs sells more than 100 million books to 35 million children each year.

And annually, Book Fairs generate more than $200 million in cash and educational resources for schools, which receive a portion of sales from every Book Fair they host.

Access to books is critically important, and to ensure that no child leaves the book fair empty-handed, Scholastic’s All for Books program provides a quick and easy way for parents and businesses to help schools in their neighborhood buy books for students who cannot afford to purchase them on their own. Scholastic Book Fairs matches the contributions by donating $1 million worth of books to nonprofit organizations that help kids and families in the most underserved areas of the country.

For more than 40 years, that’s been the goal of every Scholastic Book Fair—to ensure all children have access to exciting, affordable books that will encourage a love of reading, so they’ll have every opportunity to be successful in school, at work, and in life.
