Where do you find your characters’ names? What are your resources?

I love baby naming books. Sometimes I’ll also write down names when I hear them and I love them, so I just have a whole bunch of different names written down in places where I think ‘oh this is a good name; this will be good for somebody.’

And sometimes I’ll make up names, especially for non-human characters. I’ll often take words that I like a lot for that character, descriptive words, and use it with different prefixes and suffixes until I can come up with something that sounds like a name, but is not a commonly used name.
