GET GOOSEBUMPS WITH YOUR FRIENDS
Do you know other kids that love getting Goosebumps? Start your own Goosebumps Reading Club to share ideas about the series, do projects, and even come up with your own spooky stories!
Once you have got a group of Goosebumps fans, set a regular time and place to meet. It could be once a month, or every few weeks. You might be able to meet at school--talk with a teacher you like about how to do this. Or, you might meet at club members' houses after school.
First, dream up a name for your club. Monster Blood Brothers? The Scream Team? Let your imagination run wild.
Next, decide on the book you'll read. (It's okay if one or two people have already read the book--they can sit and talk about it.) At the end of each session, decide on the book for the next meeting.
HERE ARE SOME IDEAS FOR THINGS TO DO AT THE MEETINGS:
Each group member should talk about their favorite parts of the book, and why they like them. If you were going to make the book into a movie, where would you film it? Who would you cast?
If you were going to write a sequel to the book, what would happen?
Each group member could tell the scariest, creepiest thing that ever happened to them, then think of ways to turn it into a fictional story--and make it even scarier.
Do a creepy "circle story," where one person starts a scary story, then the next continues with the story, until each group member has a turn. If the story is really good, write it down and make your own "book."
If a group member has access to a home video camera (talk about it with your parents first, or there might be a real horror story to tell!) the group might consider writing a script based on the book and making a short horror film.
Don't forget--Goosebumps is just the beginning! Why not share all of your favorite books with your friends? And we want to hear all about your club. Write and tell us what you do:
