The Singer of All Songs
by Kate Constable
Calwyn has lived all her life behind the high ice-wall that guards the sisters of Antaris from the world of Tremaris. The sisters practice ice chantment — one of the Nine Powers of chantment, a form of magic worked through music. But when Calwyn finds an Outlander man fallen, wounded, through the wall, she is drawn to him ... and drawn into a wondrous, dangerous adventure that takes her outside the wall and to the limits of her own powers, as she, the Outlander Darrow, and others unite to defeat the sorcerer Samis, who seeks to claim all Nine Powers and become the Singer of All Songs.

Excerpt:
The orchard was white with apple blossoms, as through the ancient trees held heaped armfuls of snow in their gnarled, low branches the bees hummed their contentment, and the novices who where taking their turn to help Calwyn with the hives trotted about as sunny as strawflowers in their yellow tunics. One of them pulled off her big veiled hat to fan her forehead, squinting in the sunshine. "Calwyn, look!"

I think this book is WONDERFUL!! I love the way she puts everything in such detail. I read the second book, The Waterless Sea first, but they are both absolutely AWESOME books, no matter which one you read first!! I can't wait to find out when the third book comes out, The Tenth Power! I think everyone and anyone should read it, if they love an endless tale of a, don't think of it as the same old same old good triumps over evil, but someone trying to get a hold on there life, which is a little confusing at times. Anyway read this book if you like adventures on everypage, and something new in each sentence!! This book is a timeless classic again and again, no matter how many times you read it!
