Inspire Title 1 Students to Love Reading
Hello! My name is Elizabeth and I am a first grade teacher at a Title 1 school. More than half of my class is an English language learner. These students need extra support to engage with the language and support language aquisition. By providing two books a month to my students, it would help create a love of reading to help with their literacy skills.
Since our school does not have a library, I hope to use some of the funds to create a small first grade library where all first graders can come and check out books. It is important to support their phonetic skills through instilling literacy. I hope with these books to create a life-long love of reading.
Books, Books, Books!
Hello! My name is Dr. Angelina Bencomo and I am the Child Development Lab teacher at Jefferson/Silva High School in El Paso, Texas. I am passionate about literacy and would appreciate your support for our “Books, Books, Books!” campaign.
The children in our program love morning circle time featuring books related to our monthly theme, holidays, or just a new read! Please help us reach our goal of $500 to add some more books to our classroom library! I hope to encourage our students (Pre-K and HS) to embrace reading for life!!! Thank you in advance for your support.
Build Our Classroom Library & a Love of Reading
As a reader myself, I know the joy of finding the perfect book; diving into a story that can provide excitement, joy, and anticipation. My goal is to create a classroom library that provides my students with books that suit their individual reading abilities as well as their personal interests.
Reading matters more when students are engaged in the story, not just reading a book because they are required to. If you are able, I would love your help to show my students the love of reading that I have found over the years. Thank you!
Inspire the Love of Learning
Hello! My name is Shelley Hardenbrook. I teach 2nd grade at Indian Hills Elementary School in Pocatello, Idaho. I am raising funds to pay for Scholastic News and Science Spin magazines for each student in my classroom and would love your support. These nonfiction magazines cover several topics and grade level standards for reading, social studies, science, and math. The articles are relevant and interesting to second graders and encourage them to read!
Children have many opportunities to learn, use, and create graphs, timelines, diagrams, etc. in multiple ways along with the new information they read. Interactive online resources are provided to enhance each lesson. My class will look forward to learning something new in an exciting way each week! Thank you very much for your support!
Support Our Classroom Library
Hello! My name is Penny and I teach 4th grade at Lowrey Elementary. I am launching this campaign to help expand our classroom library to benefit my students. One of the biggest joys of teaching is seeing a student fall in love with a book. My students are interested in different subjects when it comes to reading books. Some love reading about sports while others might want a book about animals. Another obstacle when purchasing for your classroom library is considering that all students aren't on the same reading level.
I would feel so accomplished if I could get my students to love reading! The best way to do this is to expand my classroom library to include different reading levels and a diverse selection of book choices. Your support will help us in raising $500 to put a variety of new books on our shelves. Growing life long readers is a huge goal of mine, and with your contribution we will be well on our way!
Building A Love For Reading One Book At A Time
Hello! My name is Teresa Fiting, I am a fourth grade teacher in Saginaw, Michigan. I would love to be able to expand my library and get my students books that they enjoy reading. I am in my third year of teaching and every book that I have in my room are from other teachers. Which is so kind of them, however they are not books my students are really interested in.
If I was able to raise money for my classroom, I would be able to get class sets for book clubs, completed series, graphic novels, read aloud that go along with our curriculum, and chapter book sets for book clubs. This funding would go so far in my classroom for my students to start to fall back in love with reading again! Thank you for your support.
Sharpening the Minds of Our Future
George R. R. Martin stated: “A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge.” As a 7th grade English Language Arts teacher, I have emphasized to my students daily the importance of reading and its benefits. This is the 4th year I have implemented a reading challenge that runs until June where I encourage students to read a minimal of 20, 100+ page books, in order to build vocabulary and comprehension knowledge.
Many of my students shied away from reading and I want to ensure them that despite their levels, there will always be books available to them that they can read and build upon as the year progresses. By contributing to my campaign, I will be able to purchase novels that my students find great interest in, make connections with and don’t want to put down-only seeking out their next adventure!
Inspire the Love of Reading in 5th Grade
Become a Book Fairy for My 5th Grade Readers! 📚✨ Hello! My name is Amber Tucker, and I’m proud to teach 5th grade reading at The Point College Prep and Leadership Academy. I work with four blocks of scholars, totaling 78 students, and I’m on a mission to give each of them at least two books each month—one fiction and one nonfiction—to take home and enjoy with their families.
When you become a Book Fairy, you’ll help me choose books that reflect the unique interests of every scholar I teach. Together, we can make a lasting impact on their education and love for reading. Will you join me in this effort and become a Book Fairy for my students? Thank you for your kindness and support! ❤️
Adventure Awaits in Every Book
As a reading interventionist in a 4-6 grade school, I see the value in promoting reading for pleasure. Our students need to be exposed to literature of their choosing to understand the power of books.
Every student in our school will have the opportunity to choose a free book before each school scheduled break. We hope that this will motivate them to read while they are away from school during fall, winter and spring break. The donation will also help us to add a variety of genres and Spanish selections to our giveaway. Thank you in advance for your support.
Be a Home Library Hero for My Students
My name is Stacey Cosden, and I teach 4th grade at Shady Spring Elementary. In conversations with students and families, I've heard one thing over and over -- "We don't really have any books at home." As someone who believes that the love of reading can change lives, I'd like to be able to help my kids build up their own home library.
I hope to send my students home with 2-4 books of their choice. With your help, my students can have books at home that they will want to read. Will you be a Home Library Hero? Thanks for your support!
Booked Beyond Imagination!
We are hoping to expand our classroom library! As a new teacher it can be a struggle to gather new classroom materials. These books will be a fun way to encourage our high school EC students to read and enhance their skills.
With these new books, my students will be able to grow and develop their literacy skills in a sensory friendly environment. Unfortunately, going to the library is sometimes a hard transition and there aren't any books on their reading level, which makes it difficult. We would appreciate your donation to our classroom to help our students grow and develop.
Breakfast With Books
My school will be hosting Breakfast With Books during Nevada Reading Week in early March. The purpose of this event is to welcome families into our school and enjoy a book with their child. We plan to serve donuts, coffee, and juice as well. Each child who comes in gets to choose a book to keep.
Our school has been trying to increase family and community engagement in our school and we feel Breakfast With Books is a great way to get families into our school and celebrate the love of reading with their child. The funds received from Scholastic will be used to purchase books for this event!
Fueling Futures: Books for Bright Minds
At my school, we believe every child deserves access to a diverse and engaging classroom library to inspire a lifelong love of reading and learning. Many classrooms lack sufficient, up-to-date books, limiting opportunities for students to explore new ideas, cultures, and worlds. With your help, I aim to raise $400 to provide several high-quality books that align with educational goals and reflect the diverse interests and backgrounds of our students.
These books will not only support literacy and academic success but also foster empathy, creativity, and curiosity. Help us spark a passion for reading and create a brighter future for our young learners by donating today!
Getting Books Into All of My Students’ Hands
Hello! My name is Hannah Knerr and I am a fourth grade teacher in central Indiana. The school I work at has 30% low-income students that receive free or reduced lunch. Many of my students often voice that they do not have any books at home to read.
Did you know that reading every day for at least 30 minutes can significantly reduce stress levels by up to 68%, improve cognitive function, enhance vocabulary, increase empathy, and even potentially extend lifespan? My dream is that all of my students can take home at least six $2 books this year to grow their at-home collection and to instill a love for reading! Thank you!
Building a Love for Reading
Hi! My name is Sarah Karns and I am a third-grade teacher at a low-income school. I am looking for help to get books into the hands of my students!
Several students have told me they don't have books at home. I want to inspire my students to read at home by getting them books they can keep and enjoy. Library books are nice, but having your own book is so special and powerful. I'd love your support in helping my students - thank you so much!
Create a Bilingual Classroom Library
Hi all - my name is Amalia Hernandez and I am a first year teacher in third grade. When I was in school, I didn't have many books to pick from. My parents did not speak English, and most books were in English.
Now as I look at my first group of students, I want to give them the opportunity I didn't have. I have multiple students who speak Spanish. I want them to be able to take a book in Spanish home to share and read with their family. Any and all donations are extremely appreciated! Thank you.
Fueling Curiosity, One Magazine at a Time
As a 3rd-grade bilingual teacher, I’m passionate about fostering a love of reading and learning in my students. Scholastic Magazines are an incredible resource that offers engaging, grade-level content in English and Spanish, helping my students build bilingual literacy skills while exploring diverse topics.
With your support, I can provide each student with their own magazine to spark curiosity, expand their world, and strengthen their reading abilities. Every donation will bring us closer to creating a classroom filled with excitement and opportunity through the power of reading!
Inspire a Love of Reading with a Diverse Library
Hi everyone, my name is Kendal McKeon! Books are windows and mirrors for the children who read them. They should be able to see themselves reflected, while also learning about those who are different from them. If students can relate to the books that they read, they will enjoy them all the more!
My goal is create a classroom full of passionate readers! I would really appreciate your support in reaching my goal.
