About Pam

Pam Allyn is a world-renowned author and literacy expert. She has authored/co-authored many books for teachers and families, including Best Books for Boys; What to Read When: The Books and Stories to Read to Your Child and All the Best Times to Read Them, and Every Child a Super Reader.

 

Pam is a social entrepreneur who has created and scaled programs to build a movement for literacy access for all children and teens, including the nationally acclaimed LitCamp summer literacy program  and World Read Aloud Day,  the global initiative celebrated across the United States and in 60 countries every February.  She is also a motivational speaker, keynoting major conferences on educational best practices for teachers and parents and is well known to teachers and administrative leaders across the country as an advocate of children as lifelong readers. She is a literacy strategist, leading systemic work in school districts and helping companies to position themselves as leaders and respected advocates for children as learners.

 

Pam is an alumni of the Kellogg Foundation Fellowship in Racial Equity and Healing and the Bush Foundation Fellowship for Women's Leadership. She is the recipient of many awards for service to children, teachers and families, including The Children's Village Legacy of Service Award; The Kent Williamson Exemplary Leadership Award; and The Teachers College Columbia University Distinguished Alumni Award. She is a passionate advocate for the lives of children as readers and the profound importance of reading, access to books and the power of story in these unsettled times.
