Students will learn about the history of Earth Day and the impact that human beings have on our planet. Texts include Trash Trouble, a fiction passage with comprehension questions, and A Battle Over Bags, a nonfiction article and questions provided at three different Lexile levels. Two hands-on science explorations help students learn more about the effects of climate change and pollution. Also included are two math pages, an opinion-writing lesson, and a culminating project in which students consider what actions they can take to help the earth.
