New Children's Books for June

Your students will love The New Girl, a relatable graphic novel about dealing with epic changes. Lia and her family are leaving their home country of Romania at the same time that Lia hits puberty. Now, Lia is learning how to move into her new life with a new home and language, and a changing body. With all these adjustments, Lia struggles with homework, communicating with her classmates, and her unpleasant periods. Will Lia ever get her life back to normal?

Meanwhile, Louder Than Words introduces readers to Jordyn, a transfer student at Edgewood High. This year is all brand new for Jordyn — a fresh start where no one knows her past. But when a podcast called Tomcat Tea starts publicly spilling students' embarrassing secrets and ruining reputations, Jordyn hatches a plan to take it down. The stakes are high, however, as Jordyn has secrets of her own that are in danger of coming to the surface.

The Deep Darka graphic novel, details the life of Magdalena "Mags" Herrera, who is about to graduate high school already loaded with responsibilities, like taking care of her grandmother, a part-time job, and more. But Mags has secrets — some of which leave her bleeding and could even kill if they ever got out.
