1) Brainstorm article ideas with your classmates: Think of different
topics that are of interest, not only to you, but to the whole school
as well. Look at what is going on around your school.
- School Plays
- The Band
- The Orchestra
- Sports Teams
- The Cafeteria Food
- After School Activities
- Art
- Holidays
- Field Trips
- Classes
- All of these different ideas change all of the time (depending
upon what's going on at your school), so they are good topics to
use from month to month .
2) Feature Articles
Feature Articles are articles that are about someone or something very important
- You can feature a teacher (like Mrs. Bunder) and allow the whole
school to get to know all the great things about her.
- You can feature a student (like Natalie) who everyone really
likes or other students that have done great things for your school
(the school president, the star of the school play, a really great
athlete, or a really neat artist) .
- You can also feature important topics. These can be about anything. From not eating so much junk food, to pets that you love so much, to science experiments!
3) Entertainment
Okay, we all love music, movies, television and books! Why not
write about it? Review movies that you have recently seen, new television
shows, and books you have read. You can even do some research on
your favorite authors and other artists and write about them - that
way more kids will know more about great talent out there!
4) Arts - everything doesn't have to be an article (not everyone loves writing as much as me!) so put other peoples talents to great use!
- Cartoons (someone can start their own cartoon strip!)
- Art - saw a good picture that one of your friends drew in art class? Publish it!
- Games - draw mazes, make your own crossword puzzles, have a
riddle each month - use your imagination!
- Photographs - use photographs from around school, share pictures
from the vacation you took, or even use pictures of your favorite
stars
- Stories/Poems - anyone do any creative writing? (I love it!) Share it with the whole school!
